Today's questions is should you have sex during your period?
According to Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the answer is NO, you should not have sex during your period!
In TCM, it is said that sex during the menstrual period can cause blood stasis in the pelvic area.
The reason for this is that sex during the period can cause counterflow of Qi (vital energy)and blood. During the period, the flow of Qi and blood is in the downward direction. During sex, the flow of Qi and blood goes in the upward direction. This causes a collision in the pelvis because it’s a clash of two forces. This may result in stagnation – we call this blood stasis.
What does blood stasis in the pelvis show up as?
painful periods which is described as fixed crampy pain
dark clotted menstrual flow
irregular periods (could be delayed or short cycles or both)
heavy periods
flow of periods not smooth
period flow can stop and start up again
purplish colored tongue
tight bowstring pulse
