Here are the Special COVID-19 Safety Measures I am Taking During Your Appointment
Your safety is very important to me. In response to the current Covid-19 pandemic, I am taking the following safety precautions for all in-person appointments:
Brief Covid-19 Screening: Prior to every appointment on the same day, you will be sent a brief Covid-19 screening survey with a few multiple-choice questions meant to provide the most current status of your health.
Arriving to your appointment: When you arrive at your appointment, I will meet you outside, ask you a few screening questions and take your temperature with a non-touch thermal temperature gauge before leading you to the treatment room. Patients are asked to sanitize their hands at the hand sanitizing station outside the clinic entrance before entering.
Masks: I will be wearing a mask at all times during the appointment. Patients are also kindly asked to wear their mask (can be homemade). Don’t have a mask? No problem. A mask will be provided upon request.
Visitors: in order to maximize social distancing, as a temporary measure, family members and visitors are discouraged from joining patients at their appointment.
Sanitation: Clinic sanitization and cleanliness is my priority for everyone’s safety. I will be disinfecting all contact items after each patient’s use. So when you enter the clinic, all main surfaces sterilized.
Contactless Payments: You may pay by way of email transfer or credit cards instead of cash or cheque to further limit any risks.
Rescheduling: It goes without saying that if you do feel ill, have traveled outside of Canada within the last 14 days or you have come into contact with someone who you suspect could have had Covid-19, please contact me ASAP to reschedule your appointment, and stay home.
Continuing Online Care: I will continue to permanently offer online video consults for anyone who prefers to receive services from the comfort of their own home. Please consider these online consults for herbal refills and customized self-treatment instruction. My clinic is now a hybrid of in-person and online services and you will see those options in the booking app.

Medical Grade Mask Required

On November 4, 2020, the BC Ministry of Health has established a new policy that a medical grade mask must be worn by everyone at all times in Heath care facilities, including patients and visitors to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
All patients and visitors must wear a medical mask when entering and moving around a health care facility except when requested to remove their mask by a health care professional.
Admitted patients will also be asked to wear a mask while receiving treatment.
Please bring a mask with you to your appointment. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you for free.
Acupuncture Safety
Dr. Maryam’s acupuncture technique is highly skilled, accurate, clean and safe. Having been in clinical practice since 2002, Dr. Maryam has a wealth of experience. She is a board certified Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncturists of BC (CTCMA of BC) and has passed the exam in “Clean Needle Technique” offered through the CTCMA. She uses only sterile, single-use disposable needles and uses an alcohol swab before needling each point on the body. Each treatment room is immaculately clean and organized, as you would expect for any medical procedure.

Clean needle technique is used when administering acupuncture, herbs are purchased only from the most reputable suppliers with excellent quality control and an immaculately clean clinic environment is provided.
Cleanliness
Dr. Maryam strives to ensure that the clinic is a warm, peaceful and safe environment for you and one major way in making you feel warm, peaceful and safe is for you to feel that the space is clean. Linens on the acupuncture beds are changed after every patient and laundered regularly. Medical waste is disposed of properly. Dr. Maryam washes her hands before administering acupuncture and preparing the Chinese herbal formulations.
